Alright so, I have seem to have been a slacker and been super ‘busy’ the past few months and havn’t really had time to transcribe my journal notes onto my web-log. So these comments and notes are pretty dated, but just bare with me because some of the stuff is worth reading.

Reaching back ALL THE WAY to New Years Eve, it was kind of a bust for me to be totally honest, I mean… yea I DJ’d a party at hotboxcafe afterdark. A sweet new venue that’s poppin’ up in the scene in kensington market. It was alright, the turn out could have been better. But I did lay out a pretty sweet set besides the douche bag french sound guy chirpin me for playing rusko and “too much fuckin’ bass, you’ll blow my fuckin’ speakers mang”… anyways, yea thankfully I had a quebec nordeques jersey on that night (true story)

But yea the party dried up around 3am, so I decided to hit up the soybomb new years party, there was tons of my friends there. The dude’s from Authors, the bad ideas, ect. and the best part of the night was that I got to see a sweet country band called “the sure things” who at first I wasn’t to impressed with, but as the night went on they stole my heart. After that I definately had to carry old kenny down the ladder off the top of the roof at this soybomb loft. It was a pretty hectic ordeal, but thankfully me and mulligan could save the day through and through. With, or without anyones help. After that we hit up jeff from Give Em Hell and the LSD dudes pad on Markham, chilled there for a bit. Saw some people I was surprised to see there. It was a good night all in all, a little bit lonely, but good… I guess, aha.

Anyways looking forward to 2010 - Keep your eyes peeled for more writtings about my life, where i’m at, what i’m doing. I’ll be updating so much you could write a book about my life. It’s all apart of just trying to get out there and attract some people’s eye. I’m such an attention whore, i know, i know. But yea, I should be starting to do more photoblog stuff to tell the story of my progress more throughout the ages, ect. You will be impressed, lets go!

To be completely honest with myself, there is trouble in paradise here in the big smoke… Toronto sometimes seems to eat me alive, I seem to be keeping my head above the water with DJing and music, but besides that… I am in a pretty huge rut, I havn’t had a job since the polson pier gig, and in between then I had been doing postering for Pink Mafia, but it seems to have dried up recently… I just wont settle for some 9-5 job, I know I can get myself out of this rut, but it’s basically my stuborness that’s getting me into it. And you know, since the whole break up thing and being kicked out on my ass, things just havn’t been 100% for me. I might have to pack it up at some point and hit up the ol’ nickle city for a bit and gather some money and lurk in the shadows of the Canadian Music Scene up north… But I really don’t wanna do that, as a dj/producer/manager/booking agent/promoter & event organizer, that would be a bad, bad move, in my honest opinion. So for now, all I can hold onto is my dj gigs and my mixes and my productions and their releases, maybe that’s the only thing that can get me out of this hole. Let’s see…

On a lighter note, or maybe not such a lighter note - I did the classic, tried to trim my stash but ended up fucking it up and made myself look like an idiot, so I have to part ways with the stash, but one of my new years resolutions was to keep the beard and stash going as long as possible. I just have to trim using the proper grooming tools and not a razor to bring it down (yea, that’s right…. i’m an idiot) so yea, maybe all winter I can keep the uneven beard/stash going. No neck beard though, i’m only 15% french and it’s itchy!

On top of that it’s relevent and ideal to say that I need a hair cut, or just a trim. Too many split ends, I look like the biggest bum in Toronto, well maybe because I am technically a bum and homeless, but yea… Point is, my hair is gross. I need to cut it ASAP!

The reason i’m being such a diva is because i’m just suiting up and getting ready for a photoshoot with Ashley of LeeLeePhotography, it’s going to be ground breaking, ‘how to make a bum look good 101′

Also, in 2010, I will be managing and being a booking agent for a number of different acts all around the Toronto music scene, a band by the name of Under Artificial Skies, i’ll be working with them and another band by the name of ‘The Archives’ two groups that I think have alot of promise and we could both help eachother with alot of exposure both ways, crossing barriers (remix wut wut!)

So I plan to start an email list again soon, as soon as I re-organize everything so I have a better understanding of the people I want to get in contact with and hook up with to give them info about my plans and to hear from other people in Toronto and around the world. 2010 is ALSO the year of me, Alex, winning tons of money on hockey proline, watch. It’s going to happen. I just need to study the game more and call the predictions more as the season gets more down to the wire. It’s do-able.

Another thing that 2010 is a year for, it’s the year that I finally pick up my socks and put out this 2012, 9/11, insane person conspiracy movie I have been working on for 3+ years. It’s time that I finally just buckled down and spent a week or two on it and just put it out so that I don’t have to worry about it anymore, I just need to get my hard drive working :S (both of them :S) haha…

So time and time again, I complain about the amount of time I have and the ideas and things I need or want to get done, I need to wake up and re-organize my whole calander, go through all my plans one by one and toss out the ones I don’t really feel for anymore.

So it’s now mid-february 2010 and I still don’t have a proper full time job, it’s starting to get really bad. The last time I had a full time job was when I worked at the sound academy/the docks here in Toronto but I was laid of because of it being a seasonal position, this whole recession thing is a total sham, but it seems to waring off on people. It totally has this effect on the job markets too that makes it seem so hopeless, you apply to all these places, places that you seem qualified to work for and you get no reply, nothing at all. It’s very frustrating and i’m not the only one going through this, but whatever. I’m just going to have to go through these part-time jobs, postering, street team, ect. As well, get tons of flow DJing and managing bands,djs and singer songwriters ALSO putting on events!!! So that’s my plan for this whole job crisis. Seize the opportunity!!

My hair could be a total situation though as it is as long as sin and if I end up getting a job interview at some kitchen they are gonna totally look at me and be like :S !!
So maybe I should get my hair cut, maybe not… I dunno, what’s the verdict ?

An upcoming goal that I should be aiming for is to be getting a new computer, it’s tough times right now, but even a new used computer would do me good, sometimes my computer glitches out, it’s not totally noticable but at big events from time to time it can be heard and mentioned by people, totally embaressing. But yea, that is a big thing to look towards for me right now, a new computer.

It might also be a good idea to get a black berry, finally circum to being a sheep in the heard, bah! I dunno, they are just convient, twitter, facebook, being a manager/booking agent for myself and other people, it’s good to always be in contact with your emails and all that. Hopefully when I get my ass out of the gutter I can be a proud owner of a beautiful BlackBerry

Also while being on the subject of products and technology, A CAMERA!!! - fooling around with just any kind of camera, documenting what im doing and just making silly observations. Pictures of my meals, my messy life, traveling, ect. Like a photo journal of my day, ect, it will be dope.

MY 2010 GOALS & THINGS TO LIVE BY!!!

Can’t eat any type of fast food ever again. Subway is the only thing that’s allowed. I need to live by that, I always eat mcdonalds breakfast and that’s totally unacceptable, anything mcdonalds is unacceptable except their coffee, that’s my rule!

I need to get a proper full time job, hold on to it or else I’m going to have to get my ass back home to sudbury for a little while and put my Toronto shows on hiatus, sit back in the shadows and gather wisdom from afar, I don’t really want that to happen, but it might be the road i’m headed down. So, i have to reverse that road fast! This is something that is very important that I document!

Something aljack needs in his life some REAAAAAL lovin’ - i’m a neeeeedy mother fucker so it’s my goal to get someone that will listen to me rant and care what i have to say, or atleast pretend :S not just some fuck buddy or some shallow scene girl… just someone real…

We’re already in february so i better get my ass in gear, but one of my goals is to travel WITH my music - and play four of at least the following cities in 2010, MTL - LA - NYC - WINNEPEG - CALGARY - EDMONTON - VAN - BUFFALO - LONDON - KITCHENER, ECT, ECT!?!?! - I need to fix my fucking computer asap, going out on the road is tough when your gear is fucking crap!

If i’m going to get to any of these hot destinations, I NEED TO GET MY PASSPORT!! - So i can travel and as well so i can go to the US and play shows and, ect. This is something i have to keep my eye on as the year progresses, i cant loaf on this!

To make my year better and to become more professional as a whole - I need to stop this whole phone scared thing - and answer calls, ect - I need to start calling chavin atleast once a day and also calling or txting drew once a day to see what they are doing and try to hangout with them atleast once a week, and ATLEAST! get in touch with them EVERYDAY!

I NEED! to start some kind of a band, and be the front man of it, have creative control over guitar and the writting, look at NIGHT OF THE SNAKE - they had no drummer and made it work - I need to do that, get infront of that shit, it’s the only thing that make sense right now and i need to do it.

Also, I am definately NEEDED in the GOOD TIMES as their bass player, they keep telling me to come jam and that I am perfect for their band so, it’s something that I need to jump aboard they could easily get huge and I miss out that would be horrible, so I need to get ontop of that ASAP!

2010 is also going to be the year of me starting my production group with phyrie doing DNB/DUBSTEP and other wonky stuff, it’s going to be DOPE!! we’re going to get on it ASAP and put all our shit together. Maybe today or tmrw I can go over there and work on some stuff with her. It’ll be dope SHIT!! A total santuary for me, all the time! THE STUDIO!!!

It would probably be a good idea at some point this year to ATTEMPT! to STOP DRINKING - as some point this year, and keep track of my progress, keep track of when I drink and how much and if I pull any stupid bullshit - ALL YEAR!!! - and what i do write it and when it’s time to pull the plug - do it. If i fuck up drinking then write about it and then dont drink for a few nights - TRY GOING OUT SOBER FOR ONCE!!! DRINK WATER!!! CMON!!!

Also, this is total crazy talk but MAYBE I should ATTEMPT! to stop smoking pot at some piont for a bit, keep track of my progress and keep track of my smoking progress and what i do write when it’s time to pull the plug, ect, it’s a total sham to think about, but it might HAVE to be done to get somewhere in life, aha.

Need to get real about my health, stop drinking pop, all carbonated bevereages, giner ale is the only exception, or when drinking alcohol, but not coke and try not to
drink other bullshit drinks as well! Get serious!

Need to keep true to my decision to not touch shell fish, at any point - Can’t cave and eat china gournment sesame shrimp - as big of a tease as it is, I just can’t fall for it, it’s filth!

I also can’t drink milk, AT ALL - I can cook with milk, boil milk - but i CANT - drink milk alone! Also try to quit cheese, it’s going to be impossible, but just try and document progress.

I need to get my shit straight and finish the ground breaking insane mind warping movie i’ve been talking about for freakin’ YEARS!! - it needs to be out by 9/11/2010 and it will SHOCK THE WORLD!!!

Going to get back into doing a regular radio show again, once i get back on my feet, until then just do a pre-recorded show with mixes and upload them onto talkshoe and broadcast them - do stuff with music, politics, sports, shooting the shit, ect, keep an eye out for that and i’ll watch my progress too.

I need to get on my game and get my hands on a camera, so many things I can be doing wiht one, jsut a cheap one, asap, taking photos of messes, just a photo journal in general - It NEEDS to happen ASAP.

Going to start sending my stuff to foreign labels in the city and try as hard as I can to get a deal and release an E.P on a small label, This is something i will document - Hopefully a large label might pick me up along the way - just need to keep pumping out new stuff and send out a mailing list thing for a promo package every few months

Get gigs and get noticed and signed.

Need to start eating and excercising better and more often, biking and being more healthy like I was in the last few summer’s - Get the bike back and start ripping it apart, biking to all my events, ect.

I need to start regularly doing the event links and blog every sunday or monday regularly, getting tons of hits and gaining more respect on the toronto music circuit. A new blog will be created on the spark of life page to promote BASS BONKERS - TROPICAL @ HOTBOX & THE EAST/WEST PARTIES - Get mad respect and gain tons of hits this way. Need to talk to Steve pretty soon from Soybomb and start to work out the logistics for a dance party pitch at soybomb that includes some bands, 80s, 90s, dance & requests.

Soon there is going to be tons of photos on this blog of sparkoflife, our friends, our funny messes, our sweet places, when we are balling, when we are in the gutter, the beautiful ladies, the not so beautiful ones, and all that jazz. Going to bombared this page with everything I can, get a glimpse of the lives that are lived and document the progress of who we are and where we are going. Sparkoflife will be spanning all over the world, making friends online, prospects to travel and meet people and spread the sparkoflife around the planet the music, and ideas of a proper world. Soon we will see a ‘tropical and funky’ night at the Gastro bar on the east side of Toronto. I will repitch my idea to him and go from there. Hopefully it will catch on in the East end and people will come out. Let’s see.

I Also just wanna say sorry to anyone that dosn’t want to get invites. I am going to make a big list of people not to invitet events so that people don’t get their phones and inboxes flooded. I’ll have some respect, I don’t consider it spam, others do, So i’ll respect that. I’ll go through it everytime before I invite people.. I promise.

I need to get my social game on and start talking to people more in person, especially with girls and hanging out with people in person too, I don’t know why I have this shy blockage sometimes, but I do, sometimes it’s hard for me to approach someone - totally weird stuff. Also roll with single girls and guys, never a huge crew - I don’t need a crew to validate myself. I need respect and self respect. But, sometimes you just have to run with the wolves instead of being the sheep herding, meaning playing the silly social games that pretencious status obsessed people play. That means always being seen with people, girls especially - as a guy. And stoop to their low level to climb the social ladder back up and gain ‘respect’, But always, within all these games - in the end. I have to stay true to my beliefs and not change my way of thinking. It’s a wild world out there, filled with lies and deception and its my obligation basically to highlight those aspects of lies and decpetion, sometimes people don’t see what’s right infront of them until someone comes along and points it out.

But who am I to say anything ? I’m a total bum, I live on my friends couch - I get all the hand downs I can take. I need to hit up the craigslist free list once a day and take advantage of as many things as possible and sell them or collect things that are worth value and hold on to them. It’s a good way to make some quick dough and also get ahold of some sweet things for free :) Gotta keep looking on craigslist and other palces online for little places to put on events, places that i DONT HAVE TO PAY to put on events at, how silly is that ? I’m Gonna get more into deep house, latin house, funky, tribal and all that now. Gonna take it to the next level because I know everyone else is and is about to. So it’s time to get my game on, equipment wise and everything. I need to keep my eye out and start doing as many remix contest as possible and just more contests in general with production, searching forums, blogs, ect for stems. I’m aiming at becoming a more well rounded producer. I have one remix floating around right now that Paul D pumped out, i’m hoping that he’ll be around to do some more some time after the deadlines album comes out and maybe an ALJACK remix once the ALJACK full length drops. Also there will be a remix done by Stern once ALJACK sends him the stems for it lol. Soon i’ll be starting a band and writting songs, and getting back into the grove of song writting and recording punk and hardcore music, i’ll try to lay down some stuff and make a song with all of the stuff here at phil’s with or without people. I will do it my self with a drum machine and program the drums if I have to. I will soon be managing as many bands, singers, djs and other acts as possible. Ressurect what was once known as the Almac Agency. I’ll hit my old myspace and ressurect the ALMAC agency and link that up with SPARKOFLIFE - hopefully soon I can get some people onboard with the whole idea and get some projects going.

I have SOOOOO Many people on my msn and facebook, I need to go through msn one day and my facebook and talk to all my people on my list one by one and just get their contact info and send them a message just asking them wats up - make my rounds and talk to tons of different people. Collect contacts and add mroe contacts. I’ll be looking for new people to work with, I tired to work with this one girl and she was a total stuck up flop. So i’m looking for people to work with and make music with. Whoever is out there that wants to work with someone, i’m looking so keep your head up.

I’m going to have to go to the x-gf’s place or look around my couch master’s place and find the old hard drive from my old desktop computer and try to find out how to recover all the stuff on there. If you have any idea, contact me.

Every single time I do these notes, I’m going to have to go through them and create a small journal entry and do it like three of four times a week and keep track of my progress. Just as I am doing right now, a nice little word file will do the trick - offline just add to it just like I am adding to this. Put it a special little folder in MY DOCUMENTS

I love PC - BUT! I need to stop having HUGE piles of notes to do and having it all backed up like right now I have two HUGE journal logs that I still have to go through before i can even transcribe the stuff I have on my note pad now. I cant have this anymore. Once i have this stuff cleared out, I need to transcribe my notes EVERY SINGLE DAY! Write down everyday atleast once how i am feeling and what i am doign and where I am and accompany it with picutres and funny things. Geeze, it’s about time.

I need to remember to keep looking at my 2010 goals and commenting on my progress and share it all with the world. I have such an obsession with documenting my whole. As if I would be concerned with privacy aha. I’m just starved to attention. It’s quite sad. Also, Try to start doing a daily journal about the events in my day all the time, constantly write down what i’m doing, and also try to get a camera to take pics and stuff like that, bring note pad everywhere.

Sometimes just going out and cutting your losses and accepting your doubts is the only thing you can do for you to get anywhere. Even when you’ve lost something so precious to you, you have to settle for what you can get. Even at the lowest points of our lives we all get a helping hand from places we’d never think possible. If it wasn’t for my friends right now I wouldn’t even have the chance to be doing what I am doing in this city, so I am forever greatful to my friends @ keepstillkeepquiet.com & leeleephotography.com - Phil, Greg, Ashley, Chad… I’d be nowhere without you guys.

On another note, the search for a real (sold out) job continues, it’s kind of hard trying to become a famous dj, while living on someone’s couch and being unemployed and basically living in poverty but what can you do, it’s the nature of a starving artist. Hopefully the food industry throws me a bone at some point.
